E-Twinning offers a platform for staff working in a school in one of the European countries involved, to communicate, collaborate, develop projects, share and, in short, feel and be part of the most exciting learning community in Europe. eTwinning is cofunded by the Erasmus+, the European programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport.

What are Julio Verne School’ s projects?


Julio Verne School is pleased to belong to this community and participate another year as eTwinners with international projects with European countries in both Primary and Secondary School. Our current projects so far are:


TEDDY BEAR PROJECT (Year 2, Primary, Flor Irod) The aim of the project is getting to know about European children of the same age and our eTwinning co-founder is Denmark. 

Both countries chose a cuddling toy and sent it by post to the other school. Then, each school’s travelling Teddy Bear will send pictures of their experiences in each country and send it back to its class through the eTwinning platform, where parents will have access too. 

Also, both classes will do a global event in the same week every one and a half month working with the values that each country has in their schools. In addition, pupils will also do an individual activity, where every child will get the chance to have our ‘guest teddy bear’ at home and with the help of their parents, both will show objects that are very important for them. 

YOUNG PEN PALS’ CLUB (Year 3, Primary, Erika Schwartz) This project aims to develop writing skills throughout the whole academic year as our school thinks it is important for kids to express themselves with basic structures in writing. Also, getting to know eachother with other cultures motivates them a way more than with traditional teaching, making the writing process even more emotional and funnier for them. 

Our penpals and eTwinning co-partners are from Turkey and all of us are writing a different letter format a month (letters, cards, postcards). Our first letter has already been sent and pupils were extremely happy to get an answers. Now, we are preparing our Christmas‘ cards! Let’s see what our Penpals will tell us! 

FILMS ARE US! (Primary and Secondary, Erika Schwartz) in collaboration with our centre project Global Goals for Sustainable Development, I thought to work this year’s goals through cinema in Spoken English. I believe that cinema is a powerful tool to make students be crittical and speak up what they believe or think. Also, the cinema brings excellent opportunities to debate and work collaboratively with Turkey and Italy as eTwinning co-partners. So far, students have researched on different films related to Decent work and economic growth, Gender equality, Quality education, Reduced Inaqualities, No poverty, Zero hunger. Then they did power points presentations in class inviting their partners to debate about the film / global goal and making the class aware of possible solutions to each goal. At the moment, they are finishing their posters with them as protagonist to promote the film in order to make a wall display at school. Finally, our Turkish and Italian co-partners are also planning a future Skype. 

Julio Verne School believes that eTwinning projects improve not only our students‘ achievement, but also give them the possibility to broaden their minds and knowledge, getting to know other cultures and belonging to wider communities.
